"Your angels of staff"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Everyone here has been amazing. I came in as a pregnant woman whose water broke for about a week already, I came in covered in fear as it had been a week of tip towing at home trying to keep the baby in & healthy. I came into RIE faced with physical pain, emotionally drowning in fear of the worst that could happen to my baby.

I was feeling out of control of the only person that needed me the most, the baby in my womb. I was received & attended to with 110% warmth & care, assurity that we were both in good hands. As the pain accelerated, I was going through labour delivering the baby, the screams, pushes I gave never wiped a single smile off the midwives and the whole team.

Whenever I had a sec to check, I saw welcoming faces that kept motivating me.  The baby was born and another team of amazing angels took care of him.

I'm still in hospital and still seeing the amazing angels caring for my baby.  Their faces gave me hope already, leaving me with 1 question.  How does RIE manage to hire 100% of the same person. They are all amazing, thank you to all of them. Oh they made me extra emotional this morning as I found a mother's day card with a personal message and đŸ‘£ of my 2 days old baby. I'm still in awe.

Dear Sabie,

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful and emotional experience. It’s truly heartwarming to hear how much comfort and care you received during such a challenging time. The way you’ve described the incredible warmth, compassion, and professionalism of the team at RIE really brings to light the positive impact they had on you and your baby.

It’s completely understandable that you were filled with fear and uncertainty, but it’s wonderful to hear how the team surrounded you with not just medical expertise but emotional support and reassurance when you needed it the most.

Wishing you and your little one all the best as you continue your recovery. I hope you feel the support and love from the amazing team at RIE every step of the way. Thank you again for sharing such a beautiful story—it’s a powerful reminder of the difference compassionate care can make in times of fear and uncertainty.

Take care and sending all my best to you and your baby.

Kind Regards

Katy Ruggeri
