"Misleading information in connection with an appointment"

About: Ayrshire Central Hospital / Clinical Radiology (Diagnostic Radiology) Ayrshire Central Hospital / X-rays & Scans

(as a service user),

I received an appointment letter for a Bone Densitometry DEXA.

In the letter it explained that as part of the Fracture Liaison Service that the statt would give the results of my scan during the appointment and to allow approximately 40 minutes for the appointment.

So you can't imagine my distress and disbelief to be informed that there was no one there to give me this information as the radiographer specialist for DEXA scans does not work on a Saturday. I am at my wits end with the treatment from NHSAAA as in the last year this is the second time that my appointment have been a complete let down and it has affected my mental health. Why does NHSAAA think that they can continue to do this to people who are only looking for answers to what is going on with their health.

If it was not for their lovely staff this morning I don't know how I'd really feel. NHSAAA need to have a look at themselves.

Dear Just a number NOT

Thank you so much for taking the time to share feedback on your healthcare experience with us via Care Opinion.

I am so very sorry to read about the situation you have described. Please be assured that this is not the person centred care that we strived to provide within NHS Ayrshire & Arran.

Whilst we always aim to provide care that is safe, caring and respectful, we do recognise that sometimes we get it wrong. When we do, we are committed to learning and improving and hearing experiences, good and bad, directly from our patients is one of the best ways for us to capture this valuable feedback.

I appreciate that this situation must be very frustrating for you, however it is difficult for us to look into specific issues raised in this way as Care Opinion is completely anonymous. If you would find it helpful though, we would be happy to look into this in more detail for you. You can leave your contact details on 01292 513942 (voicemail) and I will call you back or via email at aa.patientexperienceteam@aapct.scot.nhs.uk

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
