"An outside hand rail"

While in hospital I was visited by occupational health who asked if I had any problems at home.  I explained about the few steps at the outside door which I had some difficulty with.   She suggested the outside rail but, as I live on the bottom floor of a block of four flats it was difficult as everyone in the flats had to agree to a hand rail being installed.

When I got home from hospital I contacted each of the residents, who all said they had no problem with a hand rail.

I then contacted fife health social care, who were very helpful.

Soon after, Sandra from social care contacted me, then came for a visit, within a short while a hand rail was fitted.

It has made such a big difference to me entering and exiting the building.

Thank you for all your help and assistance.

Dear "Fishermen",

Thank you for taking the time to provide the Community Occupational Therapy service with your feedback. Stories like yours help us shape the services that we deliver by letting us know if we are meeting the needs of people accessing our service.

I am therefore delighted to learn that the rail has made such a difference and that by providing this, that Sandra and the Kirkcaldy Community OT team have been able to assist you in being able to get in and out of your home more safely and independently.

We wish you all the very best for the future, but should you or anyone you know require our services in the future, then please do not hesitate to get in touch to make a referral to Community OT through the Fife Council Social Work Contact Centre.

With our Very Best Wishes, Neil (Sandra and the Kirkcaldy Community OT Team)
