"Epilepsy diagnosis"

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

i had a seizure in 2021 went to the RVI as we didn't know if it was epilepsy or not. 3 months later we get a letter saying i had an appointment at this hospital with a Dr to see what was going on, not long after he diagnosed me (a 15 year old female) with epilepsy and then it too him approximately 2-4 months to get me on some medication to help control the seizures. this medication did work but only for 3 months. it took him 2 years to get me on the right medication. hopefully in October i will be seizure free for 2 years. Although i don't really remember much of the past couple years as a seizure is basically my brain resetting itself.

Dear Amelia,

We are very grateful for your feedback about the journey which you have been on since your epilepsy diagnosis. It sounds like you have been through a difficult time, but we are so pleased to hear that your seizures are now under control with medication which is working for you.

It would be helpful if you could email us at Patient.Experience@northumbria-healthcare.nhs.uk with the name of the doctor who looked after you so that we can send your review to them. If you don’t know their name, we could find out if you email us with you full name, date of birth and hospital number.

With our best wishes,

The Experience Team
