"Their calm and supportive manner was so helpful"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Paediatrics Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Accident & Emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

Our 1-year-old has a history of UTI and ureter issues,  he hadn't been quite himself over the weekend, and his temperature kept climbing till it was reading 38.9,  had been waiting ages on hold to NHS111, but our concerns raised to the extent we felt he needed to be seen quickly,

We attended UHA ED, where his temp was then reading 40.2.

I can only praise the staff of the department for their quick action in helping me manage the stress and quickly moving us to XH.  Staff at Ayr, Charge Nurse Sharon and Nurse Chloe and Jo and Consultant Ash were wonderful and their calm and supportive manner was so helpful.

The ambulance staff who took us to Crosshouse were also wonderful.

At Crosshouse we were looked after initially in the assessment unit then moved to the inpatient ward where he had a few days of iv antibiotics and fluids.

Unfortunately I can't remember everyone's names, but wish to mention a thanks to Michelle, Play worker

Georgia- Junior Doctor, Dr Kelly, Bethany, Heather and Megan SN.

I would just like to praise and pass on our thanks to all the staff on duty.

Thank you for taking the time to post your thanks and staff praise on care opinion. This must have been a difficult and stressful time and I am pleased that SCN Sharon and her team were able to make you feel at ease during this stressful time. It is lovely to here to positive praise and I will pass on your Gratitude to Sharon and the team whom I am sure will be delighted to here how they helped make a stressful experience into a positive outcome. Under the current stresses of the NHS it is always lovely to here how the hard working staff can make a difference in people’s worst moments. I hope things have stabilised after the antibiotics and that your son is recovering well.

Best Wishes

David
