About: Victoria Hospital / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

I must thank the team at the RCDS unit at Victoria Hospital for the excellent service they deliver. After a visit to my GP he was concerned my symptoms of weight loss and feeling sick all the time could be a sign of cancer. Hearing the word cancer can be alarming but the staff at the RCDS dealt with me with great care and attention.

My initial phone call was from Lorna who took great time to listen to my concerns and to explain everything and answer all my questions in detail.

I quickly had a blood test and CT Scan and the results were fed back to me super fast. Although I was clear for cancer the scan did show other medical conditions which I received medication for.

I think the RCDS delivers a brilliant service,

We understand that cancer concerns and investigations are challenging and can heighten emotions. We understand how stressful a referral can be, and it’s heartening to know that our team’s caring approach and detailed explanations made you feel more supported. Your words reflect the importance of timely, compassionate, and effective care, which we strive to offer each patient.
