Our daughter was a patient at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow, when she was diagnosed with meningitis and subsequently suffered various strokes. In late July, she was transferred to Larkfield Rehab Unit, Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock.
This was a huge step, but we were reassured by the friendly, caring, and efficient staff who looked after our daughter as if she were one of their own family. This care extended to myself, my wife, and other visitors. At all times, our daughter was encouraged in her therapy and stimulated by the nursing staff to make the most of her stay in the Unit.
There has been a significant improvement in our daughter’s condition since entering the Unit, although there is still a long road to recovery ahead. She is currently scheduled for repatriation in late March to continue her recovery at Uist and Barra Hospital, Benbecula. This will place her in closer proximity to her home and family.
It is our pleasure to commend the staff at the Unit, under the direction of the Senior Charge Nurse, Alastair, who did everything to support us and our daughter through such a stressful time. Nothing was ever a problem, and we were kept informed at all times. Many friendships have been made, and we promise to stay in contact to share updates on her progress.
"Exceptional treatment"
