"Trying to obtain a copy of the recording of meeting"

About: Acquired Brain Injury / Brodie Ward

(as a parent/guardian),

We had a meeting in January 2024 at Brodie Ward with 6 Health care professionals regarding a member of our family.

We were asked if it was ok for the meeting to be recorded we said we preferred it to be recorded.

Towards the end of the meeting, I asked the Physiatrist if they had received any more Complaints from their staff regarding me, since they accused me of swearing at their staff.

We were ready to leave the meeting when a kind person commented the minutes of the meeting would not be verbatim.

Thank you.

We consulted a solicitor and they said we did not want the minutes, we were entitled to a copy of the tape.

In the past 14 Months we have asked 2 of the Health professionals 12 times for our copy of the tape and only 1 has had the decency to answer.

Thank You.

I was recently visiting the patient and the physiatrist walked passed saying hello. I asked why we have not had our copy of the tape from the meeting. They smirked and said they were too busy and went into the office.

We have made other people in Cornhill aware of this situation.

I do not believe Royal Cornhill Aberdeen would condone this kind of behaviour.

Please can someone advise us on how to obtain a copy of said tape before our upcoming yearly meeting.

Dear Wisteria,

Thank you for sharing your story. We do take feedback seriously as it allows us to improve our services. We do apologise for you experience. We can confirm that the recording was taken of this meeting purely as an aid to the admin team, to allow them to type up the minutes. We undersatnd you did consent to this, but we apolgise if the reason for recording was not explained clearly to you. We will explore further if the recording can be shared with you, this will involve discussion with our information geovernance team. If you wish to discuss this matter further please contact kathryn.kinnear@nhs.scot who is the service manager at Royal Cornhill Hopsital for this area.

Update posted by Wisteria (a parent/guardian)

Dear Julia, thank you for your reply.

It is strange why Brodie ward did not have the foresight to tape the meeting when 3 healthcare professionals have accused me of swearing at staff.

To date we still have not received the minutes of the meeting January 2024 at Brodie Ward. Better still a copy of the tape, to which we are legally entitle to. We have already taken advise from a Solicitor.

We had another meeting at the end of March 2025.

60 days ago, this meeting was also taped, at the meeting they informed me they had not received any of the 12 email from me requesting a copy of the minutes/tape.

Other issues have also been raised regarding another member of my family visiting where they were asked to leave, we would like a copy of the tape of the meeting of March 2025 or the minutes to include full details of the concerns for the visitor.

In other words - Full Disclosure. PLEASE.

Kindest regards

Wisteria
