I was referred to the Community Physiotherapy Team by my Parkinsons Nurse as my walking had deteriorated slowly over a long period to the point where I was stubbing my right foot resulting in stumbling and excessive / quick wearing out of the toes of my shoes.
The Pysiotherapist made a home visit to assess my situation. This was a very personable and productive experience where a series of exercises were very well explained and demonstrated These exercises were to be done daily at home. A follow-up phone call was received a few days later to check all was going ok.
A follow up visit was arranged shortly afterwards to monitor progress and explain about an ankle support device that could also assist.
At the next meeting the ankle support was fitted. It was immediately beneficial as it encouraged me to put my heel down first, rather than stubbing my toe, as I walk.
I feel I have benefitted from this brief interaction with the Physiotherapist. I should also emphasise that the Physiotherapist was very professional, being patient, caring and reassuring during the whole process.
"Patient, caring and reassuring during the whole process"
