"Kind and patient staff"

About: Wythenshawe Hospital / Accident and emergency Wythenshawe Hospital / General medicine

(as the patient),

I was admitted via A&E & subsequently AMU to Wilson Ward, due to a viral infection which caused a severe/acute myopathic condition.

Both the nursing & auxiliary staff were very kind and caring, and I say this as a retired nurse myself.  I was very frightened by the sudden onset of my condition, yet was met with kindness and patience from staff.

One problem of note, a common issue within the wider NHS, was the clear evidence and extent of the understaffing on the ward, and the resulting compromised care planning resulting from this, staff were clearly pushed to their limits, but tried/maintained a caring manner with delivering patient care.
