In July '24 I was sent to the Western General as an emergency by my GP due to a perianal abscess. Absolutely everyone that I encountered during my short stay went above and beyond to make me feel at ease and comfortable. Which, when you’ve got a women in her 30s, crying in pain and partially out of fear is probably not easy.
The only person I remember the name of is the consultant who was operating that day. His name was Mr Duff, he was very clear and to the point in his communication which I was very appreciative of.
I don’t remember her name, but the nurse who looked after me in the recovery suite after surgery was great too, I had very low blood pressure and she was a little worried about me and took such good care.
Also the porters who took me to the ward, I could walk but he insisted on me sitting and was kind and chatty! Then the porters who took me to surgery, they were such a funny duo and doing everything they could to put me at ease.
