"Depression and anxiety"

About: Omagh Primary Care Complex / Adult Mental Health Services

(as the patient),

There has been alot of horrible things that happened in my life that happened. And it kept festering all this time and things mounted and mounted. I got lower and lower till I felt that there was no hope for me anymore and that I could find peace just nothing being here anymore. This voice in my head was so negative and cruel. I just wanted it to stop.

Thankfully I had a very supportive partner that took me to the doctor when I finally let him know how I was feeling. The doctor saw to me quickly and was able to get me help right away with the emergency mental health team. They got me through the first few weeks, with daily check in and starting medication for depression. I was then referred onto the primary mental health team where I meet Roisin. It's hard to put into proper words but she is on of the best. I finally feel this darkness that had a tight hold of me is all but gone. She helped me to bring myself back together and love myself. With her help I was able to come back from that dark brink where there was no hope. And now I have so much hope the future.

Roisin each week gave me work to do that would benefit me, now at the start I didn't really believe that anything was going to work that I'd be forever broken shall we say. But I'm not broken, all be it a little cracked. I'm stronger now, I can manage my emotions and how I deal with life moving forward. Yes nothing is ever totally hearts and flowers but I have discovered that even in the dark times there's still good and hope to be found, it is just choking that darkness to reveal that light.

It sounds so cheesy but loving yourself and giving that time to heal does make a difference to reach out for that help. I know I have done the work for myself but I don't know how much Roisin knows how much she really helped me. I honestly want her to know that and the people around her that she works for and with need to know that.
