Husband came in due to painful inflammation in the knees joint. Arrived at the desk requested urgent care and was told he could not be seen for 2 reasons:
1) as there was no capacity (so why was the reception desk still open???) Urgent care is for minor emergency, we were not even given a triage.
2) after explaining that our own GP had no face to face appointments, and there were no apointment with our private care and we were advise if the pain persisted to see urgent care we were told by the people at the desk (who were grossly impolite when talking to us) because we had already had an over the phone advice they could not see us.
The process of receiving nhs urgent care clearly is flawed, there is nothing in the nhs policy that says a person should be refused medical attention on the nhs regardless of receiving advice over the phone from a private consultant.
I suggest your receptionists are trained in this and trained in customer service in better ways to talk to people in a kind tone rather then speaking passive aggressively.
"Urgent care extremely unhelpful "
