"Broken hip"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as the patient),

I tripped over a blanket and broke my hip. The ambulance came within 10 minutes. I was taken straight into casualty where I was assessed and given pain killers. Then I went straight up to the ward.

Within 2 days I was given a full hip replacement and 3 days later I was allowed home after being diagnosed and treated for osteoporosis.

Mr Shenoy, the surgeon and all the staff were excellent, explaining everything fully and putting me at my ease. The interaction with them produced plenty of laughs and even the food was good.

Well done the NHS!
