I attended Forth Valley Royal Hospital to have my speech valve changed and my cancer check up with my consultant.
When I arrived I was welcomed by my Advanced Clinical Nurse Specialist Cara, Clinical Nurse Specialist Eimear and one of my Speech and Language Therapists Heather. All in passing in the hall way. I was quickly taken to a treatment room and had a discussion on what had been happening with my valve. They all took the time to listen, and let me explain how I was feeling and how I was experiencing the valve. They were kind, compassionate and supportive. They gave me plenty of time to talk and in no way did I feel rushed.
I then moved to see the consultant and who began the procedure. Heather ensured I could see in the screen what was happening after checking with me that I wanted to see. Cara held my hand throughout and gave me comfort as she always does.
These nurses are born to do the job they do. They are patient oriented, truly care and allow you to trust them in what they do. I absolutely believe they all have my best interest at heart.
Cara and her team has also gone above and beyond by setting up a local lary group to allow larys a place to socialise with others who understand what we are going through. It has been running for over a year now.
"Exceptional patient care"
