I found out i was pregnant in august when i was 20 weeks! total shock to the system!
Through previous pregnancies iv had numerous complications so when i phoned to be registered at motherwell midwife’s i was offered a phone consultation straight away then a face to face appointment due to me being red path way and consultant led straight away.
The care i received was second to none! all i would say is that i never saw my named midwife shelley at every visit but i did catch up with her when i could at next visits ect.
Fast forward to approx 32 weeks and i was showing signs of pre eclampsia and sent to hospital multiple times due to high blood pressure protein in my urine and headaches there was absolutely no time to kill as i was told and was dealt with straight away no problems
I then had to attend day bed twice a week just to make sure everything was stead which thankfully it was.
I had a planned c section mid december at wishaw general and my experience was absolute text book.
I was nervous and due to blood lose during the c section i had to have a top up of the spinal meaning i could not get the catheter out until nearly 24 hours after the c section the nurses helped me with my baby as my partner had to leave at 9pm they helped me feed the baby gave me painkillers and those midwife’s in ward 22(i think ) are a absolute godsend.
The consultant who carried out my section is very professional and im very grateful for her bringing my baby girl safely into the world. even though i was losing a lot of blood she never let it be known and done everything with professional manner that much that i didn’t even know until i got told and de briefed! the whole team including all theatre staff midwife’s even domestics are all a credit to our NHS. thanks again not all hero’s wear capes!
The consultant who booked me in for the c section took on board my previous experience and agreed to do the section a day before 39 weeks due to it being around Christmas and i wanted out the hospital and home and settled I'm grateful for everything.
All in my pregnancy and birth and care were all one hundred per cent positive.
Only one thing that could be better and i know it’s not ideal for it to happen sometimes with space ect but my partner had he been allowed to stay the night as i was recovering from the c section it would have saved midwife’s who are understaffed and very very busy to get him to help with the baby rather than take up time but honestly this is only a suggestion by no means at all is it a complaint i will emphasise this.
Thanks again to all the people who where involved in one way or another with my pregnancy and care and then with the c section i will always remember it as a positive experience and our family can’t praise you enough.
Wishaw general hospital maternity management should and are very proud of your professionalism in the nhs thanks again 😀
