"Educational, supportive and very practical"

About: Community Mental Health / Move Ahead - Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Service

(as a service user),

I very much looked forward to this 6 week course in Anxiety Management. I'd never been to Oakbank Community Centre so I was a bit nervous. But the facilitators were very welcoming, and the room we were in was nice and fresh and airy. And all the other attendees were lovely.

The course content was educational, supportive and very practical.

Although I'd had CBT many years ago there was still a lot I didn't know.

I learned a lot about myself - behaviours and thinking patterns which were having a negative effect on me and increasing my levels of anxiety. I found some coping skills such as Mindfulness and grounding techniques which are a great help.

I also learned I should be kinder to myself.

For anyone struggling with anxiety and thinking of going on this course I'd say it has been greatly beneficial to me. As I said, I was anxious too about going along but was well worth it.

Big thanks to Hayley and Michael from Move Ahead.

Dear hydramh63,

Thank you so much for getting in touch with your positive feedback regarding the Moveahead Anxiety Management Group. My name is Pam Lamond and I am the Senior Charge Nurse for the service.

I am so pleased to hear that you look forward to the sessions. We aim to make these workshops fun, interactive and welcoming. It is lovely to hear that Hayley and Michael were very welcoming as were the attendees. Thank you for your feedback regarding the venue too. The room art Oakbank has recently been refurbished so I am glad that is was a nice environment to be in. I will be sure to feed this back to Oakbank Community Centre.

I am delighted to hear that you felt that the course content was educational and supported you to understand how your behaviours and thinking were impacting on you in a negative way and increasing your anxiety. It sounds like you took away quite a lot of learning and developed self awareness from attending the course. This is really wonderful feedback for us to hear as we are driven to provide the best experience we can for our participants and it means so much to us to hear this course has helped you develop coping skills and some helpful techniques. Also very importantly being kind to yourself!

Your recommendation to others regarding the course is greatly appreciated and I hope your inspirational story will help encourage others to start their recovery journey.

I will be sure to pass on your lovely feedback to Hayley and Michael who both work so hard to make the workshops a positive and supportive place to learn new skills and become more self aware. They will both be delighted to hear the impact the course has had on you as our goal is to help people progress through their recovery, as much a we can.

Thank you so much for taking time to share your experiences. It really does mean a lot to us all at MoveAhead.

Pam Lamond
