"The staff were amazing"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a relative),

We were recently in Craigavon area hospital with our Mum who had collapsed in the supermarket and got the back of her head.

The ambulance took forty minutes to arrive but that's a different thing, when we arrived at the hospital she was brought straight to resus, the staff who looked after her were amazing.

Sister Amy getting us information, the agency nurse who updated us, and the doctor who came and spoke to us every step of the way, we think his name was David were fantastic, and got her to Belfast for life saving surgery.

We are eternally grateful for every person who looked after her that day and unbelievably we got her home two days ago. She still has an operation to go but doing amazingly, thank you

Good morning ICU family,

I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to share your experience of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. As an organisation we are committed to consistently showing compassion, professionalism, and respect for the patients we care for, so it was disappointing to learn that the service provided did not fully meet your expectations.

With regards to our response times please be assured that we are working closely with the Department of Health and the Strategic Planning and Performance Group to increase our available resources. We are also working with the local EDs to try to ensure that our patients can be handed over to hospital clinical teams as quickly as possible so that ambulance are able to respond to further emergencies.

Yours sincerely,

Neil
