"I haven't really found my programme beneficial"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Pulmonary Rehabilitation

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

The team of staff have been great - Fiona is the lead nurse and Debbie- Physio/ Nurse however I haven't really found my programme beneficial.

Still not sure after 8 weeks how the exercise can help me breath and really don't feel much better.

When I lived up in the north of Scotland my doctor never disused rehab for my lungs so not sure if this is something new or not? Not for me.

Dear blackbirdnj34,

Thank you for taking the time to provide care opinion feedback regarding your experience at the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme.

I am please to hear that you found Fiona and Debbie to be "great" and I will make sure this is passed on to them.

I am though sorry to hear that you did not find the programme to be of benefit to you.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is one of the most important and evidence based interventions known to help and improve patients with lung disease and as a treatment has been available for many years.

As with all treatments some patients find more benefit than others and I am sorry this was your experience.

I wish you all the very best for your future and if there is anything we can do to help support your lung health please do not hesitate to get in contact with the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team on 0141 211 3341.

Kind Regards

Kirsty Murray

Team Lead Pulmonary Rehabilitation GG&C
