Around a year ago I contacted the surgery to speak about a private medical problem with a doctor. I managed to have a telephone appointment later that day after I waited at home all day waiting for the call as I did not want the call in my work environment. Some blood tests were then booked and taken. Eventually I found after chasing that the blood results were all negative but as the problem persisted I would need to do engage consult (the practices web based service for consultatons) again to get another possible telephone consultation from another anonymous doctor. Since then I have attempted to telephone at 8:00 am or slightly thereafter on 3 different occasions and had the message that all of todays consultations are taken and then you are expected to ring off. The issue I have is non life threatening but I would still like to sort it out as it is affecting my mental health and my marriage. However I am now so fed up with the poor service at White Horse I am not sure I can be bothered to even try anymore. Does that sound like a good NHS service. I am not sure it does. Engage consult is ridiculous as a service. It takes over 1/2 an hour to fully fill it all in and I am told that you do not have to fill it all in when I phoned and spoke to someone just now. Really Does this sound logical to you. Perhaps the practice management are actually trying to reduce the calls on the GPs but this is a poor way of doing it. The person I spoke to this afternoon was just totally unbothered about me as a person and could not wait to get me off the phone. This is the NHS as we know it. What is going to happen when all the new residents of Faringdon move in to the new housing being built as it is going to get worse.
