"Such special individuals taking care of my Mum"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

We had to phone an ambulance for our elderly mother. She has been in and out of hospital over the last few months and whilst the care shown by individuals has almost always been good, this time there were such special individuals taking care of my Mum.

The two male paramedics were just amazing with her - so personable and caring and couldn’t do enough!

Then on arrival in to A&E, Nurse Erin was just amazing - she really is clearly someone that was born to be a nurse. She was so warm, caring yet professional - and really listened to my sister and I about the complexities of Mum's situation.

Mum was seen by Drs Simon and Flo, and both again were just superb - listening and genuinely interested in her story. Support staff Margaret was just amazing - she was so full of chat with patients, very cheery and smiling and super helpful.

Honestly - the staff work so so hard under really difficult circumstances, they really really are angels and are just not rewarded highly enough as the difference they make not just to patients but to families is immeasurable.

I hope this reaches them, including the ambulance crew, as they deserve recognition for just being all round awesome people

Hi clare51,

I'm really sorry to hear that your mum had to go into hospital again recently and that she's been going through a hard time the last few months. I hope you're all doing ok.

I just wanted to thank you for taking the time to post such warm comments about the care she has received from staff across the NHS and especially your positive feedback about our staff at the Scottish Ambulance Service. This is really nice to read and great to see that you thought our paramedics were amazing, caring and personable.

They will really appreciate reading this and for the thanks you've expressed in this post.

We can definitely track them down within our system and make sure your comments are sent on to them directly. We'd need a few more details (full name of patient, date and time of incident, address and a very brief description of the care opinion post above) to sas.feedback@nhs.scot and we can match all the details up and send on.

Thanks again for the fantastic feedback. Please pass on our very best wishes to your mum.

Thanks

Mark

Dear clare51,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Hairmyres, Emergency Department.

I am sorry to hear that your mum has been in and out of hospital due to being unwell. It must be a very worrying time for you and your family. I am glad that our friendly and attentive staff have listened and ensured they understand you and your sisters concerns about your mum while treating her. It must have been very reassuring for you all that she has received such excellent care.

I will ensure your kind words are passed on to all the staff named in your story. I am sure they will take great pride in hearing your feedback.

I hope your mum is feeling better.
