"Why I Love Yoga"

About: Inclusion Recovery College Thurrock

(as a service user),

I have been going to recovery college for quite a few years.

Then a different course all together was advertised, yoga for everyone.

I was lucky enough to get accepted.

It was a one day workshop for two hours.

The day of the course.

Oh my what have I done,? what do I wear? what will the others be like,? what will I have to do? im not fit enough,.

So I went, and it never crossed my mind that of course all the others on the course were having the same thoughts as me.

And of course it was fine, more than fine it was great, the tutor is lovely, you work at your own pace, its siting on a chair and some of it is on a yoga mat (this is provided) or standing.

This has helped me to identify my weakness that I need to work on and my strengths.

You dont feel self conscious, everyone does what they can to their own ability.

It dosent feel like exercise its gentle movements not hard impact.

I now look forward to the yoga sessions and feel extremely grateful and lucky that I can attend these sessions.

I have seen a change to my mental and physical heath, I feel more confident, my arthritic joints are becoming stronger and less pain full, I feel more alive, have more energy.

The bad days are still there but not as bad or as oftern.

Thank you Diana (yoga teacher) and Recovery College.

Thank you for your feedback.

It was so good to know that you were able to feel comfortable and at ease within the session.

It's also helpful to know that you felt that the Yoga practitioner was able to meet the needs of all students enabling them to work at their own pace and in a way that was suitable to their abilities.

The Yoga Practitioner will continue to collaborate with the Recovery College.

It is rewarding to hear that the course has made such an improvement to your wellbeing, and you have seen improvement both physically & mentally.

The benefits to wellbeing of the mind and body connection through Yoga is significant and continued practice is encouraged.

Looking ahead, perhaps you might like to enrol on the Ways to Wellbeing 5 sessions and the Practical Mindfulness 6 sessions next term.

Once again, thank you for your feedback which continues to help the Recovery College ensure course quality.
