"The service provided by all was exceptional"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / General Surgery Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I had the misfortune of needing to call an 999 ambulance due to a sudden onset of abdominal pain and vomiting. The service was outstanding from the quickly answered call, to the rapid arrival of the crew. I was quickly given pain relief and anti sickness medicine.

Transferred to the Crosshouse Emergency Department. I was seen immediately, both the Nursing and Medical team were extremely kind and quick to help with my pain and planned a CT Scan. Which I received quickly, I was reviewed by the AE Registrar and Consultant then referred to the Surgical team and assessed in ED.

Admitted to Ward 5B. The staff both in the ED and ward were amazing. I was kept in for a few days and treated with the upmost respect and care. The Surgical Consultant and his team reviewed me twice a day and kept me updated with results and discussed the plan thought-out my admission. The service provided was exceptional.  Please be sure to please on my gratitude to all area.

Thank you for being there, when I really needed you. The NHS is a service that we must keep and appreciate.    Well Done folks.

Dear ED Patient 999

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about the care provided by the staff within the Emergency Department and Ward 5B within University Hospital Crosshouse.

I am sorry to hear that you needed to be admitted to the hospital with a sudden onset of abdominal pain and vomiting, but glad to know that you were transferred quickly by our colleagues in the Scottish Ambulance Service.

It is reassuring to know that you received such prompt, professional and compassionate care from our staff in the Emergency Department prior to your admission to Ward 5B, where you also found the staff and care to be exceptional. This is high praise indeed and a lovely example of the person centred care we strive to provide.

When times are challenging, it’s always nice to hear such positive feedback from our patients and it will be my pleasure to share your feedback with the wider Team in the Emergency Department and also with the staff in Ward 5B. I know they will all be delighted to receive this feedback and to know that you felt so well supported whilst you were under their care

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela

Hi ED Patient 999,

I'm very sorry to hear about your recent illness with abdominal pain and vomiting. That must have been really distressing at the time.

I see my colleague Pamela at NHS Ayrshire and Arran has already responded to the wider points about your care but I just wanted to thank you for your warm feedback about our staff at the Scottish Ambulance Service who looked after you. It's great to hear that they were rapidly on scene and were able to administer pain relief and medicine quickly.

All of the NHS staff involved in your care will really appreciate your kind comments and you taking the time to write in to thank them and share your experiences.

We wish you all the very best,

Mark
