I was admitted into the Day Surgery Unit at Queen Margaret Hospital at the beginning of March. I was to have a Paraumbilical Hernia Repair. For me this was the first time under NHS hospital care for many decades and I was apprehensive to say the least.
However, I was met, talked to and treated with the greatest respect from reception throughout to eventual discharge the next day. The unit is well run, organised and calming. There is an obvious team spirit within the entire unit and it was reassuring to always hear the odd laughter being shared between staff now and again.
When I was taken to theatre operating theatre I was met again by friendliness and at no time did my anxiousness take me over - how good is that?
After my operation I was met with a smile from a young man looking after me but there also by Dr Proctor who provided a heart lifting reassurance that everything was good - this made my heart soar and I will never forget his presence at that particular time - thank you Dr Proctor.
On return to the Day Unit again I was treated carefully by all the nursing staff who looked after me. They just all seemed to know what to do and when - just excellent - thank you all.
