"Out of hours dental"

About: East Ayrshire Community Hospital / Community Dental Practice

(as the patient),

Had to call NHS 24 due to what was a wobbly tooth but resulted in significant pain, an abscess and I was unable to bite or chew on the left side of my mouth.

After a 25 minute wait for NHS 24 to answer my call, I had an appointment to attend a local hospital outwith my home health-board within 15 minutes. All staff I spoke to were very polite and respectful. Only waited 15 minutes when I attended for my appointment and again, both the Dentist and Dental Nurse (sorry, I can't remember their names) were very polite, professional and had a bit of banter aswell. As someone who also works in the NHS, only this time as a patient, it's great to see wider colleagues show credit to the organisation we work for. Ultimately I had to have a tooth removed but I trust the staff that was the correct treatment needed and my overall experience from start to finish was positive. I hope this message reaches them as I want to say, as I did in person, thank you

Dear 7MarkoD

With apologies for the delay, I would like to thank you for taking the time to share this lovely feedback about the care provided by the Community Dental Services within East Ayrshire Community Hospital.

I was sorry to hear that you had been suffering from dental pain but glad to hear that the dentist and dental nurse were able to see you promptly and put you at ease whilst reassuring you about the plan of care, ultimately resulting in a positive experience for you. This is a lovely example of the patient centred care that we strive to provide.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and it will be my pleasure to share your kind words with the Community Dental. I know they will all be delighted to receive this feedback and it will be really encouraging for them to know that you felt so well supported.

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
