"Getting in contact regarding upcoming surgery"

About: King George Hospital / General surgery King George Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Everything happened within a week. I have surgery scheduled. My pain increased drastically since I have been to pre-admission team. I have ongoing pain for 3 months, of which reason was not discovered yet. I have been on multiple antibiotics, so just wanted to discuss before operation if that is ok to proceed after what I am going through.

First I have sent the email which a consultant provided me in case of any concerns, but I have received email back that that person left hospital and do not work there any more.

Then I have tried to contact King George Hospital pre admission team, I was on the phone for hours, I have continuously put on hold from one extension to another, could not contact anyone to talk regarding the case.

Then I called the next day and strictly asked to connect me with pre-admission team, Receptionist told will tell the nurse and they will contact me. However no-one called.

Then after few days I only received voicemail to confirm if I am coming for surgery, it was a Friday, late afternoon, after I saw voicemail, the opening hours were closed.

On Saturday, Sunday also closed, reception told to call on the Monday.

I will come for surgery, but it could be complications and there are lots of uncertainty in upcoming operation, because I am in severe pain and it could be other ongoing problem not related to my upcoming surgery.

I feel that all reception staff has to improve significantly and look at queries responsibly. Provide patient with contacts, email or any other way to communicate with hospital before the surgery.

I will go for the surgery and might be rejected on the day, because of ongoing problem before operation. I do not want to waste expensive hospital time and cancel because of poor communication on the day of surgery. All  off this can be prevented if I would have any possibility to contact anyone regarding the matter. I am talking about gynaecology department, pre-admission team at King George hospital.

Extremely disappointed that can not connect with anyone, before operation.
