I attended A&E one Saturday because my defibrillator was bleeping and I was very anxious and nervous it would give me an inappropriate shock. The lady on reception was so kind with a lovely can do attitude, trying her best to get a patient number for me as I now live in Cumbria and she couldn't access my notes. She was so helpful and very kind.
I only waited 15mins to be seen by staff. Derek was the nurse in charge who was very friendly, knowledgeable, kind and reassuring. Sarah was the lovely nurse assistant who did all my observations, was lovely to chat with as I was very anxious. She really helped me to keep calm. I was then seen by the consultant Andrew who offered admission until I could see the physiologist to get my ICD interrogated on the Monday. Andrew was kind and patient and provided lots of reassurance by allowing me to be admitted.
Derek even came to see how I was when he finished his shift in the morning which I thought was so caring and thoughtful.
On Monday morning I saw Joe the physiologist who was very patient, kind and caring explaining how my lead was damaged and needed to get in touch with the Freeman hospital who looks after my ICD. He was so thorough with his assessment and took so much time to answer all my worries and concerns.
I'd like to say a massive thanks to all of these staff who made a very unnerving time so much easier to manage. The time and care they took to reassure me was very much appreciated.
