"My child was not going to school"

About: Family Support Hubs / Family Support Hub - East Kilbride

(as a parent/guardian),

My child was refusing to go to school and even tho we had multiple meetings and regular contact with the school I felt they were not helping us at all.

I felt helpless and felt like I had no one to help. We reached out to the local family support hub and we met with our social worker.  I can't thank her enough, as she was able to communicate on my behalf with the school and was able to discuss with them about a change in timetable and other options within the school.

Dear gail1690,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to give such a lovely response about the support you received from the Family Support Hub.

It must have been an emotionally hard time for yourself and your daughter, when she was not attending school and then attending multiple meetings with no positive outcomes.

I am glad to hear your Social Worker was able to advocate for you and your daughter, and get a positive outcome in relation to your daughter's timetable and other options in the school.

I will advise the team of your positive response and hope parents in a similar position reading your care opinion will reach out for support.

Thanks again, and I wish you and your daughter all the best for the future.
