Three years ago my GP sent me for a CT scan as I had lost 5 stone rapidly, in just a few weeks. The scan showed up 2 tumours in the right breast and a lesion on the right lung.
Having had an infected duct removed on the right breast in April 1983, and having lost my mother and a sister to breast cancer, I was well prepared for the cancer result. Having a very positive outlook, I had the right breast removed almost 39 years to the day of the duct removal.
All staff at the clinics and in the ward were of first class material, and Miss Tovey an excellent surgeon, and follow up clinics went well. I only have a wee pill to take at night, and I believe my sense of humour helped me also, which I am sure Miss Tovey shall never forget.
3 years later, I am still enjoying life to as full as I can make it, and very thankful to all, especially to my GP, for getting the CT scan done in the first place. It is onwards and upwards to all, ladies and gents, who are diagnosed with breast cancer, loving life as I approach my 79th birthday.
