Good Morning,

I used System online this morning and firstly looked at the boxes for booking an apointment. I selected a range of dates but none were available. Eventually I realised that these boxes do not function and the online triage form must be completed. May I suggest that this box be removed as clearly it does not function and wastes patients time and the receptionist when a patient then make a phone call instead. I did point this out to the receptionist this morning and she advised me to make a complaint. I chose not to make a complaint because this can be resolved using common sense and basic logic.

Dear Russell

Thank you for your feedback. I know the section that you are referring to which is on systemone online and unfortunately we can't remove it as it's a national computer set up. We appreciate your frustration that it is not made clear that we can't offer appointments that way.

System one online is the place where patients can securely order prescriptions, and have to log into with passwords.

The reason that we have no appointments showing is that we operate a total triage system here. This means that 100% of appointment requests are filtered through by one of the Doctors, and they will advise who the best person is to manage the symptoms, and in what timescale. They may for example offer a physio, mental health professional or specialise Nurse. They may also direct someone to a Pharmacy (as they do offer antibiotics now) or to the walk in centre for things that need an x-ray.

If patients were to book online without being triaged, there is a risk that they may be waiting longer than needed, and then end up with the wrong professional for example waiting weeks for something that sounds like an emergency to the GP or for something that could have been dealt with sooner by a different professional.

Thank for the feedback however, we shall continue to raise this with the software provider and we do appreciate it is not ideal for this to be visible when you log on.
