I received a telephone call from NHS to inform me that I had been referred for an Ultrasound Scan. As I said I was unable to attend on that day, they offered me a different date, which I agreed to do.
Because I was in the car, the reception on my mobile phone was not very good and I did not catch the name of the Hospital to go to. Having always bee to Worthing Hospital, I presumed that I was to go there again. When I got to the Ultrasound department, I was informed that the department was closed and that I should have gone to Shoreham Hospital.
I was a little worried because I did not think I could get there on time. The staff at Worthing could see my concern and said that they would open the scanner room and turn on the machine to do my scan there. A doctor came to the rescue. A very nice Dr Jewison with the assistance of Karima were wonderful and understanding, they made me feel very comfortable with their assistance.
I know people very often complain about the services they receive from Worthing Hospital. I have been there a few times in the last seven years and have always felt that the staff are very polite and helpful and have never had any bad experiences. I cannot think of any Hospital that would open a department, on a Saturday, because the patient got confused.
As for the NHS, because of my health issues, they have proven great. I was fast tracked recently for health checks concerning my problems. The Doctors and Nurses do a great job. I think they deserve better treatment.
