"My care during and after a hysteroscopy."

About: Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Day Surgery Unit (K south) Inverclyde Royal Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Late February 2025, I was admitted to the Day Surgery Unit, on level C within Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock.

I was having a hysteroscopy procedure done.

I had never gone through a procedure such as this nor had I been given a general anaesthetic.

From the get go, the staff were fantastic. I was a tad nervous but because of them and Dr Lamont, I found myself well at ease throughout.

All staff were very attentive. Everything was explained clearly and they made sure I was happy going forward.

My after care was excellent! I was given heat packs and pain relief and a much needed cup of tea. Every staff member could not do enough!

Dr Lamont came to speak to me before I left the department to go over what she had done and to ask me how I was feeling.

1 week after my procedure, I received a phone call from Dr Lamont to tell me my biopsies had come back normal. She told me I would have to wait a further 3 or 4 weeks for a letter confirming the results so, she decided to call me herself.

I cannot tell them all how grateful I am to them. Their attitude towards their patients and care is second to none.

Dear avocetey85,

Thank you so much for taking the time to offer feedback on your experience following your procedure at IRH.

On behalf of the gynaecology team I am delighted you have had such a positive experience and that you felt reassured in the care of Dr Lamont - including being contacted regarding you biopsy results.

I will be sure to share this with her and wish you well in the future.

Kind regards,

Nikki
