My mother was brought into Craigavon Area Hospital by ambulance. She had been very ill at her local nursing home & staff contacted ambulance service.
We were brought into Ambulance Triage & immediately seen by Drs & Nursing Staff. Mum has Alzheimer’s & the staff were extremely sensitive to this. She was made very comfortable, her symptoms were treated quickly and investigations carried out to determine what had happened to her that morning.
Mum’s complex medical needs were carefully analysed and considered… it was felt that she might have had a slight heart attack or some other cardiac episode related to existing issues she has. Repeat test were carried out to monitor her progress and help in deciding the way forward.
By later in the day mum was greatly recovered and her tests were well improved all round. A decision was made to allow her back to her nursing home with some medication. This was the right decision as she was getting very agitated because of her Alzheimer’s and would have struggled if admitted to hospital.
Her Doctor, Dervla, and Nurse, Beth, were more than kind. In fact, all of the team on duty were so attentive to Mum and made a very worrying time so much easier for her and for my sister, brother and myself.
I was really delighted with all aspects of the service experienced and wanted to thank the staff. At a time when the NHS is under such pressure and constant criticism, it is good to give praise where it is due!
