"Outstanding Practice "

I came in today for an appointment and needed a female sanitary product as I didn’t have a spare on me. I wrote this on my phone and showed the lady working reception who discreetly gave me a pad encased in paper.

The GP I had my appointment with was also very helpful, I had a lot of questions during my appointment and she was happy to answer all of them. As well as explaining next steps in my treatment, reasons for prescribing medications and possible outcomes. She also gave me resources to look into which was much appreciated.

I’ve lived in multiple countries/cities and have always hated going to the doctor, as I felt GP’s looked down on me and were dismissive of any physical health concerns - refusing to look into, diagnose and treat any possible ailments/conditions due to my weight.

I’ve never had this experience at Darwen Healthcare. My GP has only brought up my weight when absolutely necessary - which I understand is sometimes unavoidable - and it is always done sensitively.

Whilst I still feel nervous when booking an appointment and mentally prepare myself to advocate for the care I deserve, that anxiety decreases with each visit to your practice.

You’re an outstanding team of healthcare professionals and I would like you to know how grateful I am for all the hard work you do -especially with how tough things are at the moment. Thank you for taking the concerns of *all* patients seriously.
