I honestly can't thank north Devon maternity unit enough for looking after me in October 24... I was taken in with pre eclampsia, I really wasn't well and was struggling, everyday became difficult but with alot of help from the staff I was left feeling like I had nothing to worry about, the girls on the ward were amazing I can't name them all as I don't remember them all but if you were working day or night dating mid October 2024, you all deserve credit! But I have a massive thank you to make to a lady who I do remember her name and that's ashley-may! She went above and beyond for me, everyday before my surgery she would check in and make sure everything was perfect she never gave up, and she did everything in her power to ensure my surgery went well!
It came to the day of my emergency c-section she preformed the c-section and the entire time she made sure I was comfortable, she made me smile and assured me the entire way through (again there was another lovely man in there who did my spinal block and epirdural he was also amazing he and Ashley together decided emergency c-section that day was essential for my health) I'm a bigger woman so this surgery isn't easy I'm sure but they made sure the room was safe secure and had enough staff to help! ( to all you staff there that day thank you)
Ashley considering my size and the difficulty of the surgery did a fantastic job.
I had previously had a c-section a few years before and my scar had split open (again probably due to my size and lack of a knowledge on keeping it safe) I explained this to Ashley and she ensured the best way this time for probably for staples and a stitch! I ended up with 22staples and a dissolvable inside stitch! She did an incredible job my scar never once split, got sore or infected I healed so fast!
After my surgery she came to see me and very politely sat with me and explained there are many options for weightloss and to not be afraid to ask for help. As someone who has always suffered with weightloss it was nice for someone to come and explain to me there is help without being judged or told to exercise because sometimes it just doesn't work for some people... she checked in on me and my baby and I'm actually sad I never got to say a proper thank you or see her again we're now in March 25 and I still think about this incredible woman everyday! And I always think if anyone is lucky enough to have her by your side while your at North Devon District hospital your in very safe hands!
If I could give a billion star review I would! If any award would come up she would have it in a heartbeat! You made me better, you made me feel a better person after and you bought my beautiful little girl into the world! I can't thank you enough if you see this from the bottom of our hearts thank you and I wish you all the best! Your one in a million... also thank you too everyone on shift that day.. too all the health visitors that visited me after! Absolutely amazing!
"Absolutely amazing"
