"Letter received over a month after dictation"

About: Borders General Hospital / General Medicine

(as a service user),

I received a letter over a month since it was dictated. The letter asks me to significantly change the medication I am taking. It is also factually incorrect.

I have also been sent forms for a blood test with incomplete instructions as to preparation for the test or where to go for the test or as I am bed bound will someone come to my home or will ambulance transport be arranged?

I am now totally confused. I had no faith in my local NHS Trust prior to this, now I have no confidence in them at all. Every contact ends up in confusion and brick walls.

Dear duckyduck.

I am sorry to hear about your experience and how unhelpful our communication has been so far.

I would suggest you contact the department secretary (the number should be at the top of the letter) and ask to speak to your consultant to clarify any changes to your medication and the instructions for the blood test.

I did as suggested and was told the room I was allocated was not suitable for wheelchairs anyway.

All I get are letters from the consultant, which are meaningless.

It feels like wheelchair users are considered sub-human and that people just can't be bothered.
