"Everyone we met was friendly and professional"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Maternity unit

(as a service user),

I received excellent care whilst giving birth in Forth Valley Royal - mostly down to midwife Gemma. I wasn't in the labour ward long before my baby boy was born but within minutes of being under her care I felt listened to and my needs were met. She helped guide me through giving birth whilst still making me feel like I was in control. She was so encouraging with me and my husband and seemed to know exactly when to interact with us and when to step back. After my son was born she allowed us some quiet time and only interrupted when we buzzed for anything - this was such a lovely bonding time.

I have left the labour ward feeling empowered and have had such a positive experience. Everyone we met in the labour ward was friendly and professional and the ward itself was spotless.

Dear cygnuspm98

Firstly I would like to congratulate you on the birth of your son.

I am so pleased to hear that your experience was so positive, and that it made you feel empowered. Additionally you mentioned the encouragement that you and your husband received, but also that the midwife recognised when to allow time for you all to bond as a family.

I will share your feedback with the staff, and I am sure this will be gratefully appreciated. On behalf of them, thanks so much for taking the time to post this feedback.

Heather Riddoch

Department Manager Ward 7 & Ward 8
