"Excellent and Practical Care "

About: Stepping Hill Hospital

My husband came to ward D1 from A&E for two short admissions in the final stages of pancreatic cancer and was discharged for end of life care here at home on 29th October. He was treated with great kindness and respect by ward staff and received excellent care especially as it became clear that further treatment was not possible. The ward team heard and responded to our desire for him to return home for end of life care and pulled out all the stops to get him there with the support he needed. His discharge took less than 24 hours and gave us four very precious days together until he died, very peacefully and without pain, surrounded by his family. I cannot thank them enough for thier kindness and support at that difficult time.

Good afternoon,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback about the care your husband received on D1 before he went home to receive end of life care. First of all, I would like to convey my condolences for the loss of your husband.

It was heartening to read that you were able to have your husband home for those precious days to be together as a family which is so very important.

I have shared your feedback with the ward team who I know will appreciate hearing your kind words.

I wish you and your family comfort as you grieve for your loss.

Kind regards,

Aoife Isherwood
