"Unhappy with communication"

I recently received a call to book an appointment for a flexible sigmoidoscopy, sadly we were out at the time so i rang back when we got home. The appointment was booked and an appointment was made for the nurse to ring me at an allocated time 2 weeks before. But this did not happen. I left it till about 2 hours after the time and contacted appointments and they rebooked the phone call, but this worried me as the phone call did not leave a lot of time for the post to arrive, so i arranged for my neighbour who works at the hospital to pick up my package.

All went well with the procedure. The staff were friendly and helpful and put me at ease. As i had had sedation i had to be picked up by my wife. The nurse was supposed to phone her to let her know i was ready to come home, but this did not happen. I had started to ring my wife just as the nurse arrived to discharge me, so hung up, my wife then rung me back and i told her i was just getting my papers and am now ready to go home. She and my neighbour then set out for the hospital. 45 minutes later i was still sat there. The receptionist arrived at about 1500 to collect me after i had been sat there for about 3 hours. My wife was waiting for me and she had been waiting for about 35 minutes. The receptionist had told the nurses that my wife was here, but nothing had been done about it. My wife was not happy about this waste of time as our neighbour was waiting in the carpark for us.
