I called for assistance with a broken retainer. This was originally provided by the orthodontic service. I was informed I was discharged.
No advice was given at the point of provision of this device should it break. I was told I would need a referral back to the service from my dentist. This would take time. I think they are well aware that you can’t manage without your retainer for lengthy periods of time as your teeth will move and you won’t be able to get the retainer back in. Time is of the essence. I was told my teeth will have moved since I was discharged. I argued that I am still wearing the same retainer I was discharged with so my teeth clearly haven’t moved.
I was left feeling that the service doesn’t care. It was all matter of fact, not even and apology that they couldn't help. I randomly contacted independent dental laboratory in Dunfermline. They managed to repair my retainer overnight.
