My daughter was admitted to the Blossom Unit after a period of days of severe gastro symptoms and dehydration. The ward was fabulous and the level of care we received and kindness from doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, domestics and even the admin staff was amazing.
The team had difficulty accessing a vein in her and it was exceptionally traumatic for us but we received so much support before during and after and the doctors took their time explaining why they were doing what they were doing it and answering our questions.
I would like to make a special mention to staff nurse Megan. She is literally an earth angel and one of the most beautiful souls I've ever met. Her kindness and compassion for my daughter and the lengths she went to for her was nothing short of astounding. She is just incredible and made a very difficult time for us that bit easier.
The only negative I would mention is after over 20 attempts to access a vein in my young child. The final doctor promised us they would try no more than twice with her as she was terrified and traumatised by this point. They proceeded to try 4 times while she was being held down and squealing and at one point the child was hysterical and the doctor said what are you crying for I haven't even touched you yet. We also insisted the doctor use an ultrasound, as by this point the ultrasound was the only near success, and they refused.
