With all the bad press about the NHS, Id like to share a positve experience.
I have been attending the Beatson since January 2023. My Consultant is Dr Waterston. She has been amazing and has given me the most wonderful care.
I first met Dr Waterston in 2023. I had been diagnosed with 2 melanoma brain tumours. I had been fit and healthy my whole life. I hadn't even had my blood pressure taken. I had without a doubt (white coat syndrome) I was probably the most terrified patient Dr Waterston had seen. She was kind, caring, understanding and took time to explain everything.
I immediately started on a 2 year immunotherapy course which finished recently. I also had Radiation Surgery in July 2023. I have had CT and MRI scans every 3 months. To be honest I have been able to live a pretty normal life.
Dr Waterston phoned me every 4 weeks to discuss my progress and to answer any questions. My scans have been clear since March 2024.
I owe my life to Dr Waterston, her team at the Beatson, all the staff at the Beatson, immunotherapy, radiation surgery and the NHS.
Immunotherapy is a wonder drug and Dr Waterston is a wonderful consultant. I will always be truly grateful to her and her team.
I still have a long journey ahead, as this is my first year without treatment and I am being monitored closely, getting scans every 3 months.
However my journey seems less scary as I know I have Dr Waterston and her team with me all the way. To know that I can phone, email or even see them face to face is so reassuring. I can't thank Dr Waterston and her team enough,so I thought I'd share my positive experience.
"A positive experience"
