"Phantom Department "

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

Having been referred back in September 2024 for having reactive hypoglycemia, Having experienced several episodes each week and being unable to get under control. It was deemed that this department would be best suited to get to the bottom of the issue.

Having not heard anything by November Went to Bupa and they told be the tests i need can only be done on the NHS and again put these notes on my file. Having tried to contact the department for the last two weeks and left voicemails as no one is there to answer. I still have not managed to speak with anyone. We are now over 22 weeks from referral and just this last weekend I have had two bad HYPO's. This si the only team that can help, I have GP referral, A surgeon referral and a private consultant stating i need this urgently. Yet its like the department doesn't exist. No one answering phones. No one calling back after leaving messages. Clear to say that duty of care has clearly failed. I never would of liked to have to have to leave feedback as bad as this. But i feel i have had no choice but to leave feedback and get it documented with PALS in the hope that something might get done.

Dear Patient.

Firstly I apologise for your poor experience. I note you mention you have already contacted PALS to support, which I hope they were successful in doing. If you are continuing to have further issues, please contact me directly at rebecca.huntley@uhnm.nhs.uk to provide further details to allow me to support.

Best wishes

Rebecca Huntley

Head of Patient Experience.
