When you go to A&E everywhere you see posters No Abuse to a Personnel! But what about personnel abusing patients?
After my stay in hospital I’m scared now to go to see any doctors as how I was treated.
It all started with chest pain and hands twisted and locked in weird painful positions, feeling like loosing a balance.
Went few times and had done blood tests, ECG and got told there is nothing wrong, you probably got a virus go home. Nurse told me only come back if it gets worse and made me feel like I’m faking my symptoms. After few visits was kept in hospital corridor to be sent for a bed in cardiology as apparently in resting position heart can’t be 120. I had been given blood thinners but nothing what would slow my heart, stayed few days in corridor. One day in corridor my blood pressure jumped 180/130 I felt like my heart will explode, there was a doctor sitting to next bed patient, I said that I feel very bad and I was ignored. Patient said to doctor to come and help me to what he said it’s nothing serious and pulled an angry face on me and didn’t helped, after few minutes there was a nurse who did a routine checks and did mine, packed me on a chair and rushed me to intensive care where I stayed over night, where my heart raced like crazy and I was in pain. Didn’t had any medications given again and got said they don’t know why my heart is racing and I will be sent to cardiology ward.
Then I met first cardiologist who did check up and said everything is fine, but got given propranolol to slow heart and lower pressure. What have a relief. But the check up didn’t went smooth, I was looked on angry, said to me why I’m so stiff, relax, like I’m faking a symptoms in a very rude manner, even nurses agreed to that after he left as I bursted in tears. My hands was still locked and my feet could move properly.
I was done different tests and they said heart is fine, I was done a lots of blood tests, but nobody didn’t explained me what are they doing. After week in hospital I did self discharge as they said it could be neurological and that if I will stay in hospital an other 2 weeks I might be seen by neurologist. But my son was waiting for me st home. After discharge tried to contact cardiology of tests what was done, never got reply and my gp didn’t got test results in system as they were not shared with him. After 1 year of waiting got a neurology appointment where I’m diagnosed with Dystonia/dyskinesia. Went privately to Cardiologist where I got diagnosed with Tachycardia.
My question is why neurological patient is treated like I’m faking symptoms. I genuinely didn’t knew what’s going on with me.
My answer to you is Don’t abuse patients as well! It took me 1,5 of years to get over trauma but a fear to see doctors I still have!
