"My dad's care"

About: The James Cook University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My dad was recently admitted to the James Cook -  firstly he was in A&E and then he moved to ward 1. My dad has dementia and can be very wandersome.

When I rang to check on my dad's care, I was given information by the ward clerk, which I find unacceptable as they have not been trained!

Secondly I asked why my dad's care had been stopped and he had been called aggressive and that security had been called, when the clerk asked where I had got this info from. I explained that my mum had seen it by my dad's table, the clerk and then a nurse decided to tell me that the info shouldn't have been looked at by my mum, then if you don't want GDRP to be breached why leave that info by his food tray?

I then asked if my dad's CT results were back and I was told they would be looked at by the consultant the following morning .

They then proceeded to tell my mum who rang after me that she had to call back at 9pm. why are we getting different stories?

They hadn't even done a urinalysis at this point. When my mum explained that his urine was very dark, a nurse asked a HCA how much dad had drank. How would they know when no one was watching him?

And lastly, the most concerning of all, not one person could explain why my dad's chart said he was aggressive and they didn't have a clue why security were there, in fact they point blank denied it. Thankfully my mum has taken photos of the notes, and please don't tell me she shouldn't have, if you leave that info lying about then relatives are going to look at it.

This is all totally unacceptable and changes should me made to prevent clerks from falling family members how their loved ones are.
