"Allowed us to feel empowered as parents"

About: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) / SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit)

(as a service user),

Our daughter was born at 38 weeks via c-section and needed extra support with her breathing and feeding from the NICU and SCBU.

Every single staff member we encountered provided an exceptional standard of care for our daughter. They were kind, encouraging and so compassionate and they helped us to be fully involved in our child’s day-to-day care which allowed us to feel empowered as parents.

This was one of the scariest and most vulnerable times of our lives, but the patient and family centred care was genuinely sector-leading.
