"The treatments made him feel more relaxed"

About: St Andrew's Hospice (Lanarkshire)

(as a relative),

I can't thank the staff at St Andrew's Hospice enough for all they have done for my husband while he was ill and then when he passed they looked after myself and boys.

My husband enjoyed Sandra's visits to our home, the treatments made him feel more relaxed in which was an awful time, and she looked after me, she had time for us and understanding what we were going through.

After my husband passed in the Hospice, June made time for me and she will never know how much if helped me in the worst time she helped me get through it, I had a connection to the Hospice which I still felt close to my husband, each visit helped me in more ways than you can imagine.

I can't thank you all for looking after us all, from our first visit from Colin, to Sandra, to June, to all the staff and Sister Catherine you are all superstars.

What a wonderful job you do, helping us at the hardest time of our lives.

Thank you.

Dear sonqthrushns68,

Please accept my sincere condolences following the death of your Husband. It must be such a painful time for you and for your boys. It sounds like you had a very difficult time during your Husbands illness and I am so glad to hear that the support that you received from the Hospice was supportive and that you felt cared for when you needed it most. Caring for family and those that matter most to the patient is very important to us.

It is lovely to hear that you also experienced some of our services at home. Sandra and the rest of the team will be delighted to hear your kind feedback and that the care continued once you were in the Inpatient Unit. The fact that you felt connected to the Hospice and maintained your closeness to your Husband is wonderful because this is part of our aim. No one will have known or understood your Husband like you and it is vital that you were involved alongside our staff as he would have wanted. Your involvement in consultation with the patient helps us to deliver the best care that we can.

Thank you so much for writing a little about your story. I am sure that it was not easy but I want you to know that it helps us to keep getting things right for families. The staff will be so pleased to hear your comments.

Remember we are still here if you need us

Kindest regards,

Margaret
