My mother was admitted via A&E at University hospital Monklands. Here it was established she had a surgical issue but due to her health conditions etc it was inoperable.
She was kept in the department overnight as there were no beds available and was treated with care and respect.
The following day she was transferred to ward 4. After a few days it was decided that the treatment wasnt working and we entered palliative care pathway.
I would like to thank the staff in all areas for all their care and attention. Sister Karen and her staff were so kind and helped us through a very difficult time. Mums consultant was kind and thoughtful.
To hear that 12 hospice beds are to be taken away this year is disheartening. Our care was excellent but palliative care should not be taking place in busy surgical areas.
I commend the staff for their care and kindness.
