I was admitted to Causeway hospital Coleraine gynaecology in mid January 2025 . I was very concerned about major surgery the following day for uterine prolapse. I needed a hysterectomy and pelvic floor and organ repair .
I was pleasantly surprised to be shown to a private side room on the ward with my own bathroom and television . It was lovely and bright and clean and had a window too .
The staff were all very helpful and friendly and put me at ease .
Blood tests indicated a uti and there was some doubt about continuing with my surgery next day . I was given antibiotics .
Next morning to my surprise I was told I was first on the list for surgery at 9 am .
Before I knew it I was in theatre awaiting my anaesthetic . Dr Obryski asked if I had any questions but I told him I felt that he would take good care of me .
Before I knew it I was being woken up in the recovery room . I was taken back to the ward and monitored closely and given access to strong pain relief which I could administer myself intravenously. I only used a very small amount during the first day . Perhaps I still had some anaesthetic in my system . The next day my catheter was removed and I was very lucky to have my own bathroom during these first few post op days .
My care was excellent and I wish to thank all the nurses and staff there . Thanks also to the anaesthetist and particularly to Dr Obryski who must be a very skilful surgeon .
I stayed in hospital for three nights in total and was sent home with medication and helpful information .
I am recovering well thank you to this wonderful team at Meadow Suite Causeway Hospital Coleraine .
