"Uncoordinated appointments"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a relative),

My wife has been attending the injection clinic for her left Eye for 5 years and recently needed treatment for both eyes

The left eye is 8 weekly the right eye 4 weekly, ie one eye in one visit and both eyes the second visit, at first this was OK 

The clinic can't seem to coordinate the injections meaning instead of attending every 4 weeks we now have to attend after week 5, week 8, week 9, week 13 week 16, week 17, that is assuming they adhere to the 4 weekly routine

The clinic administrator told me they can extend the interval between injections by 25% meaning my wife can't make any plans in advance as she never knows when she has to attend 

I do appreciate how busy the clinic is as I often spend 3 hours on each visit but surely by booking the appointment for all treatment at the same  time and attending 4 weekly it would  free up space for other patients and also allow my wife to plan here day to day life

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback about your wife's experience at Whipps Cross Hospital's Ophthalmology Department. We are sorry to learn that your wife's appointments are not being coordinated efficiently. May we suggest that you liaise with Access Issues Resolution Service (AIRS) which is a designated team that support patients with appointment related issues, to see if they can assist further? AIRS can be contacted via email at bhnt.airs@nhs.net or Tel. No. 020 7767 3205. Please be advised that you will need to provide them with your wife’s details I.e. full name, hospital or NHS number, address, and your name and contact number. In the meantime, we will ensure that your feedback is shared with the service.
